BOTD - Goldfinches and a Goldcrest

Plenty of lovely birds in our wildlife garden today. These are what the children spotted:

A dunnock
Several blackbirds
Lots of wood pigeons
2 blue tits
1 Robin
1 Wren
Lots of crows flying over

but best of the day were 2 goldfinches who visited our sunflower hearts and a brand new bird for our garden - A Goldcrest!

This is the smallest bird we get in the UK - can you see his bright yellow stripe on his head?

Also keep an eye out for a special winter visitor - flocks of Waxwings have been spotted around Long Eaton this week - they love red berries and I would love to hear if you see some of these punky birds!
Until next week
Mrs Longmoor
