I am delighted to report that our "Give Bees A Chance" day at school was a great success. All the children dressed in black and yellow, some even had wings and antennae too! We had a talk from a beekeeper who brought in a hive with real bees to show us. I lead an assembly with a poem, bee jokes and a talk about why bees are in trouble and what we can all do to help. We had honey tasting at playtime and lots of bee-related learning during the rest of the day. Each child decorated a hexagon with their own bee or decorated flowers for our Parklands Beehive display. At home time, each child took home a copy of the Busy Bees newsletter and a packet of flower seeds to plant. The children got a lot out of the day and I think the staff enjoyed it too!
