The Carbon Monster was very, very hungry.

Last week was Waste Week at Parklands.

On Monday, Mrs Meller read the Carbon Monster to the children in assembly.

On Tuesday, slips about Waste Week and a Waste Free Lunch were sent home in childrens' book bags as well as a paper bag to wrap sandwiches in.

On Wednesday, children put all the waste from their lunch in a big bag for the Carbon Monster to eat.  It was very very full.

On Thursday, children brought their sandwiches to school in a paper bag (which was recyclable and compostable), instead of using cling film or non bio-degradeable sandwich bags.  Some brought snacks in pots rather than individually wrapped fruits or biscuits.

On Friday, the Carbon Monster was very hungry.  Strange grumbling noises were heard around school and he went off to find his lunch elsewhere and has not been seen since!  GOOD RIDDANCE TO BAD RUBBISH!!!

Well done Parklands.  Keep on trying to have a waste free lunch.  Don't forget to recycle what you can and why not compost your crusts?
