Hi everyone,
Got quite a bit of blog updating to do today so prepare for a lot of posts in one go. First of all an update on the Eco team meeting we held on Thursday 1st March. We started off with an update from the pupil members from their eco note books. Ash suggested we put up some more hooks for additional bird feeders to be attached in the wildlife garden. Mrs Hallows suggested that we might build a Bug hotel in the wildlife garden during Green Day Next term (Thursday 14th June is the planned date), and our newest member Mr Ellis thought he might be able to provide wood to build the frame - this is very exciting and we'll hopefully have more updates in the future.
World Book Day
As it was World book Day Mrs Mellor read us all a brilliant story called "The Carbon Monster", there is a link to it on this page on the right hand side under books if you want to have a look. We decided to theme our waste week activities around this story too - see our separate waste week blog entry for more info on this.
Wildlife Garden Update
We all made plans to build a bird hide in the wildlife garden so that all the children can watch the birds without disturbing them. Mrs Longmoor had brought a long a new feeder for the garden too.
Raising the Green Flag
Mrs Mellor told us about her plans to invite Lewis McGugan from Nottingham Forest football club to raise the green flag. And I am delighted to announce that he said yes. The flag will be raised on Tuesday 27th March at 3pm. The whole school and eco team will be there, and any parents who want to come early to school on that afternoon to watch are welcome to stand outside the playground fence.
Bird Box Camera
Unfortunately we still haven't been able to install our camera bird box, so Mrs Golding has arranged a link to view the Peregrine Falcons nesting at Nottingham Trent University, you can have a look too. By clicking on this link or the one on the right side of this blog. www.ntu.ac.u/ecoweb/biodiversity/falcons
Hope you enjoyed the update.
Mrs Padley
